About the Siobhan Collins-McCarthy Dance Academy

Starting ballet at Siobhan's Ballet School was the best thing I have ever done to help towards my dance training. I can honestly say Siobhan's teaching was a massive help towards me gaining a place at The Urdang Academy in London.
Helping me in everyway possible with my technique, stamina, performance and also a huge help in my confidence.
I want to thank you Siobhan for all you have done for me. I miss you and and cannot wait to come and see you soon.Jessica Reeve

Siobhan's Dance Academy pushed me to levels I didn't even know I had, and it nearly killed me! But without Siobhan's persistence, support and caring nature I would never be where I am today.
Because of this I want to thank her for everything she puts into her Dance School, as I am sure everyone knows that Siobhan dedicates her life, heart and soul to each young dancer that has the pleasure of being taught by her. Joanna Scholes

Training in ballet, at Collins-McCarthy Dance Academy was a great experience. Having not done barely any ballet, Siobhan's unique way of teaching brought the best out in me.
Only being there a short while, I learnt a lot, and being an aspiring contemporary dancer, ballet is critical for my training. I couldn't have chosen to go to a better and such disciplined ballet school.

The classes are enjoyable and I was inspired being around such talented dancers.Chanelle Harris

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time dancing at Collins McCarthy Dance Academy.

Due to the excellent teaching from Siobhan and the other teachers at the school, I have noticed a great improvement in both my dance technique and performance skills.

A particular highlight was performing as Dickon in The Secret Garden full length ballet production at The Elgar Concert Hall and also attending Siobhan's Summer School two years in a row.Mathew Prichard

I cannot speak highly enough of Collins-McCarthy Dance Academy.

Since joining I have really developed my strength, technique and grown in confidence resulting in being offered a scholarship for a vocational dance school starting in September.

Siobhan is an excellent ballet mistress, kind, approachable and nothing is too much trouble for her. I absolutely loved attending her classes.

Our daughter Jhanavi loves to dance.
The most logical next step would have been to find a dance teacher who would help hone this skill - but it is not always this straightforward.
We approached many teachers but the minute we said “Jhanavi has Down Syndrome” we were politely advised to find a special needs teacher.
When we stumbled on another advert offering ballet lessons for children, we decided to try one last time, well prepared to hear the same lines. We contacted Siobhan and were pleasantly surprised when she responded immediately, welcoming Jhanavi to try one of the Saturday morning sessions.
The fact that the trial session was a great success and that we haven’t looked back since is all down to Siobhan’s truly inclusive ballet classes.
The way Siobhan engages with the children, the manner in which she draws each one out and encourages them to try harder, the awe she inspires in them, and her enthusiasm is truly heart-warming and the results are evident for all to see! Siobhan ensures very subtly that Jhanavi learns to the best of her ability - never once letting her mobility issues come in the way, she accommodates and modifies certain sequences to ensure that Jhanavi doesn’t get left behind- and she manages to do all this in the most natural way! She ensures that Jhanavi is just one of the other kids exploring their potentials - and having fun while doing so.
The end result is that a year on, we find ourselves being awakened bright and early on Saturday mornings by an excited little girl who can’t wait to get into her ballet costume. Little does she know that while doing what she loves to do, her hypotonic muscles are being exercised, her hyper-flexibility is being reined in, core-strength, gait, posture and balance are improving . . .
Thank you Siobhan for everything!

Although experienced in singing, jazz and contemporary dance, I was a novice in the field of classical ballet (in spite of my passion for it) until I began tuition under Ms. Siobhan Collins-McCarthy.
It was thanks to the uncommonly insightful and incisive teaching of Ms. Siobhan that I developed my technique and confidence. Regular private lessons (which were very hard work indeed!) ensued, and in just a few weeks and thanks to her energetic, technically challenging and charismatic classes I was a different dancer.

Her enthusiasm, deep knowledge and burning passion for ballet and dance theatre resulted in me gaining a rare Betty Laine Scholarship to my first choice college, of Laine Theatre Arts. Her successes are reflected continually in her students, whose faces populate all of the top dance schools in the UK and whose RAD exam results remain almost unparalleled.Tom Ping
